About my blog

Roy Leonard's career in radio and television started in New England where he developed his interviewing skills and easy manner behind the microphone and in front of the camera by working at Boston's top independant station WHDH Radio & Channel 5 and the famed Yankee Network, WNAC Radio and Channel 7. He also met and married, Sheila Marie Finn, who became Mrs. Leonard in 1953. They were raising six sons, when WGN, Chicago came calling in 1967. The Roy Leonard radio show became a must for visiting celebrities, authors and news makers. Roy's Saturday morning program had ratings larger than the next four stations combined.

Random Thoughts from Roy

"Any actor who says he enjoys publicity is a Goddam liar. Nevertheless, I have enjoyed a small number of interviews in the last 15 years and most of them were with Roy Leonard."

John Cleese February 1999

"Dear Roy: Thanks for always being so kind to me. I hope I can be as great as you are one day - as a man and a father. Love, Harry Connick, Jr."
